"All Things are
Possible" Devotional
“Jesus said unto him, If thou canst
believe, all things are possible to that believeth.” Mark
9:23
What is it that you are facing in your life?
Is it a physical problem, financial or family problem?
No matter what you may be looking at, it can change! “And
what can make it change?” you ask. It
is what you believe.
In the gospel of Mark chapter 9, verse 17, we see a man who has a son who is
suffering with some kind of demonic spells.
One time the demon would throw him into the water, another time into the
fire. His father had his mind on what Jesus could do (verse 22).
This is where many of us have missed it.
It is not about God’s ability in this situation, but about what you can
believe God will do for you in this situation, using His ability.
One definition of “grace” (God’s divine favor) is God’s willingness to
use any or all of His ability to meet whatever need you may have.
Paul wrote under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in Romans 1:16, “For I am
not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation
to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
The word “salvation” comes from the Greek word sozo,
which is total wholeness and well-being to everyone that believes.
Over twenty years ago, I was an associate pastor in a large charismatic
church. A woman in the church came
to me and asked if I would go to the hospital and pray for her nephew.
I told her that I would, and I went.
Now this young man, who was about twenty years old, didn’t go to church
and you could say he was a long way from God, but his aunt was praying and
believing for him.
Tragically, he had been in a serious
motorcycle accident without a helmet, and was pronounced dead at the scene, but
on the way to the hospital, they saw he was still alive, though barely.
When I saw him in the hospital, he was in intensive care and in a coma.
I began to talk to him and tell him that he would live and not die. I
told him that God loved him and wasn’t through with him.
I said this many times while there.
I went to see him a few times while he was in the coma, and then one day he woke
up! Most everyone had given up on
him, but I hadn’t. I believed what
Jesus said, “All things are possible to him that believeth,” and I believed!
The last time I saw him, he was sitting up in bed with a head clamp,
watching a tennis tournament. His
aunt and I believed, and his life was saved.
What is it that you believe God can do for
you and your situation?
